Working with Collections

We believe that every object in every museum or collection has the potential to be useful in teaching.

However, choosing material from the whole resource of any museum can be a daunting prospect and requires faculty to collaborate with curators, conservators and collections managers.

We can help faciltate this process.

We are familiar with both the kinds of objects that will lend themselves most readily to instruction and with the institutional dynamics surrounding the curation of a teaching collection.

Having worked closely with colleagues in world-class research universities and major museums we can assisting with establishing fruitful collaborations and with choosing objects for teaching that are most agile: robust, materially diverse, thematically rich and capable of interrogation from a wide variety of disciplinary standpoints.
